We don't have any nuts in the majority of our cupcakes (except the Indulgent range) but we do advise that there may be traces of nuts as our kitchen is not a nut free kitchen.

All of our cakes and cupcakes have eggs. Our decorations also contain eggs. We don't have any dairy free cupcakes or lactose free cupcakes.

We encourage you to enjoy our cupcakes at their freshest on the day of purchase. However, they will stay fresh for up to two days if they are stored correctly.

We recommend storing the cupcakes at room temperature and as airtight as possible. Please do not refrigerate our cupcakes.

We recommend storing the cake in the fridge overnight and then taking it out about 3-4 hours before your event to bring back to room temperature.

Why are drip cakes trending?

Drip cakes are popular because they combine style with indulgence, creating a modern look that suits birthdays and milestone events. The Black and White Drip Cake captures this trend with its smooth black base, crisp white ganache drip, and decorative floral accents, making it both eye-catching and versatile.

What theme is best for a 40th birthday celebration?

Elegant or monochrome themes are perfect for milestone birthdays. The Black and White Drip Cake fits perfectly into a black-and-gold or black-and-white styled party, tying in seamlessly with decorations and giving the event a polished finish.

What cake should I get for my 40th birthday?

For a milestone birthday, it helps to choose a cake that feels bold yet refined. The Black and White Drip Cake is ideal as it stands out on the dessert table while keeping a sophisticated look, and it can be paired with a custom topper to make it more personal.

How do you make a black and white drip cake at home?

You can attempt it by:

  1. Bake a layered sponge in your chosen flavour.

  2. Covering the cake with black buttercream.

  3. Preparing a white ganache drip and carefully pouring it along the edges.

  4. Adding decorative flowers or chocolates to finish the look.

The Black and White Drip Cake ensures these steps are done to a professional standard, saving time and guaranteeing a polished finish.

How is a black and white drip cake decorated?

The cake features a smooth black buttercream base with a glossy white ganache drip. On top, it is decorated with white florals and edible details, balancing the bold black colour with elegant accents.

How to get the drip effect on a cake?

The drip is created by using ganache at just the right consistency, spooned or piped along the cake’s edge. This technique can be difficult for the home baker and is best left to professionals. The Black and White Drip Cake from The Cupcake Factory is finished with this technique already perfected, ensuring the drip flows evenly without mess.

What does black signify on a cake?

Black is often used to symbolise elegance, strength, and boldness, all themes perfect for an adult’s birthday. In the Black and White Drip Cake, the black base provides a dramatic contrast against the white drip and floral decorations, creating a striking centrepiece for milestone events.

How many guests can a black and white drip cake serve?

The cake is available in multiple sizes:

  • 4 inch double height – up to 8 serves

  • 6 inch double height – up to 20 serves

  • 8 inch double height – up to 35 serves

  • 10 inch double height – up to 50 serves

This makes the Black and White Drip Cake suitable for both intimate celebrations and larger gatherings.

  • Red Velvet

This flexibility means the cake can be tailored to your preferences.

How far ahead should I order a black and white cake for a party?

Orders require at least 48 hours’ notice. This ensures the Black and White Drip Cake is freshly baked, decorated, and ready for your event.

Why do people choose a drip cake instead of a traditional colourful cake?

Drip cakes offer a stylish, modern aesthetic that stands out compared to traditional cakes. The Black and White Drip Cake brings a monochrome elegance that feels mature and versatile, fitting celebrations where a bold statement is preferred over bright colours.

What makes a custom black and white drip cake different from a standard birthday cake?

Standard cakes often feature simple frosting, while a custom drip cake showcases a professional finish with striking colour contrasts, ganache drips, and decorative toppings. The Black and White Drip Cake elevates the occasion, serving as both dessert and centrepiece.
