We don't have any nuts in the majority of our cupcakes (except the Indulgent range) but we do advise that there may be traces of nuts as our kitchen is not a nut free kitchen.

All of our cakes and cupcakes have eggs. Our decorations also contain eggs. We don't have any dairy free cupcakes or lactose free cupcakes.

We encourage you to enjoy our cupcakes at their freshest on the day of purchase. However, they will stay fresh for up to two days if they are stored correctly.

We recommend storing the cupcakes at room temperature and as airtight as possible. Please do not refrigerate our cupcakes.

We recommend storing the cake in the fridge overnight and then taking it out about 3-4 hours before your event to bring back to room temperature.

Please note: All our cupcakes/cakes are individually handmade and made to order with great care and attention to detail. Therefore, slight variations in colour, design, and decoration may occur. While we make every effort to replicate the design you have chosen as closely as possible, we cannot guarantee an exact match. Each cupcake is unique, and these variations are part of what makes your cake one of a kind. Thank you for understanding and supporting our business. Please click here for our FAQs

What theme should I pick for a toddler’s birthday party?

A Thomas the Tank Engine theme is instantly recognisable and easy to style for small spaces. The Thomas the Tank Engine Cake brings the look together with smooth buttercream, track accents, and Thomas details that photograph well for milestone snaps.

How can I prep a 4th birthday party at home?

When picking a theme, Thomas the Tank Engine is perfect for young kids. Keep it playful and easy to set up with decor your toddler will enjoy.

  • Decor: red and blue balloons, paper train bunting, cardboard tunnels, platform signs, ticket-style place cards.

  • Activities: “ticket punch” on arrival, cardboard box trains, floor tape tracks, soft-toy “station” stops, bubble “steam” corner, story time with a Thomas book.

  • Food: fruit “coal” cups (seedless grapes/berries), cheese and veggie “carriages”, triangle sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini yoghurts
  • The perfect kids’ cake centred on a stand - Order the Thomas the Tank Engine Cake from The Cupcake Factory

  • Photo spot: a simple backdrop with a paper tunnel arch and a “All Aboard!” sign.

  • Party favours: sticker sheets, train whistles, small colouring packs.

How can I make a Thomas the Tank Engine cake myself?

Here’s a simple DIY approach you can follow at home.

  1. Bake and level a round cake; crumb-coat and chill.

  2. Cover with pale buttercream, then smooth the sides to maintain a neat silhouette.

  3. Add a drip or coloured band around the top edge for contrast.

  4. Pipe a track ring using black and grey icing (short sleepers and a continuous line).

  5. Place purchased Thomas figurines and a small name/age plaque facing the “photo front”.

This takes time to execute cleanly, especially on a tall cake; ordering the Thomas the Tank Engine Cake gives you cohesive theme elements and tidy finishes across the full height.

What does a Thomas the Tank Engine cake look like?

It’s a tall, double-height buttercream cake finished with Thomas motifs—all of the children’s favourite character, tracks and train accents—arranged to face forward for photos and to blow out candles. The smooth sides and bright colours make the cake feel like the party centrepiece.

Why buy a custom Thomas the Tank Engine cake instead of baking?

Double-height cakes can be tricky: straight sides, smooth buttercream and precise placement of themed elements are challenging under time pressure. Buying the Thomas the Tank Engine Cake keeps the silhouette clean, decorations uniform and the cake ready to serve. It will also save a lot of time when preparing for the party, leaving you to focus on other things.

How many people will it serve?

Choose the size to match your guest list.

  • 6″ double height: up to 20 serves

  • 8″ double height: up to 35 serves

  • 10″ double height: up to 50 serves

Which flavours are available?

Pick a single flavour that suits your crowd or the birthday child’s favourite.

  • Chocolate

  • Vanilla

  • Red Velvet

  • Marble (Chocolate & Vanilla)

How much notice is required when ordering a Thomas the Tank Engine cake?

Allow 48 hours for collection or delivery so the cake can be baked, decorated and boxed fresh.

Where can I buy Thomas the Tank Engine cakes in Sydney?

Order online for Sydney delivery, or pick up from

  • Unit 6, 43 Herbert Street, Artarmon NSW 2064

How do I store a custom Thomas the Tank Engine cake?

If collecting early, refrigerate the cake overnight in its box. Bring it to room temperature 3–4 hours before serving for the best buttercream texture, and keep it away from direct sun during the party.

What cakes are trending for preschool parties?

Train cakes, in particular Thomas the Tank Engine cakes, are trending right now. Classic characters are a favourite with toddlers, and a themed cake makes decoration simple. Pair the cake with a few low-effort train props and you’ll have a memorable setup with minimal fuss.

Can I add a name or age to a custom Thomas the Tank Engine cake?

Yes—you can add a short message on the board or request a simple topper at checkout. For extra clarity on the table, add a small card with your child’s name and age next to the cake stand.
